To me recognizing the differences in the major religions is like trying to find a piece of clothing that fits. We all have a common need and that is covering ourselves, except if you are comparing to an atheist and then they would go naked. But we all don't wear the same size or live in the same regions for temperature so we all can't wear shorts in the winter time or bikinis in the summer.
The three religions that dominate our globe are Islam, Jewish and Christianity. They are all founded out of the same root teachings of Abraham. That makes us all brothers and sisters to a common beginning. That beginning went out into the world and carried a basic system of belief in a creator.
The peoples that formed the tribes of Islam came from Ishmael, the son of Abraham, and whose mother was Hagar an Egyptian maidservant. Because of the impatience of Sarah to wait and trust on the Lord, she encouraged Abraham to take Hagar to fulfill this promise that God had made to Abraham to give him a son. God promised to give Abraham and Sarah a son in which God would create many nations. But when Hagar got pregnant and delivered, Sarah took and raised Ishmael as her own. God was not pleased with this but told Abraham that he would honor his promise to Abraham and would also bless Ishmael as a nation and would still give Abraham the son with whom the promise would be fulfilled. When Isaac was born and the time came that Sarah recognized that she did not want Ishmael to share in the inheritance, Hagar and Ishmael were sent away. Read in the Bible from the book of Genesis Chapter 21:8-14.
The Jewish nations were to be established through Abraham with the blessing on Isaac to multiply and increase. The instruction that was given to Abraham was the foundations and traditions that first formed the fundamental rituals and rites for the Jewish peoples. This was the beginning of the nations of the Jews, Israel. The responsibility of the Jewish nation was to take the teachings of God to the world through the nations of Israel. That is why the Jews have such a burden of responsibility on them as a nation. They were to be the teachers and carriers of the word of God. They were given care over the Arch of the Covenant and were the ones to build and see over the consecration of the Temple of God and care for the caring out of the rituals of the Holy of Holies. But as man is, the message of God was coveted and the Jews began thinking that the message of God was only for them and God became silent
