How to hide anything in your MySpace profile

most of us writing and understanding HTML or CSS is intimidating, stressful and can even cause more issues with a profile than they are worth. I have found several resources for easily generating code and learning where it needs to go in your profile.

My favorite site for MySpace codes is http://mygen.co.uk/ because they have a generator that creates the code that will hide whatever you wish to hide on your profile. It quick, easy and almost headache free but if you want more resources for MySpace codes you can do a search for "MySpace codes" in your favorite search engine.

Did you know that even if you set your MySpace profile to "private" your blog entries, posted videos and photos may still be viewable by anyone? Yep. That is right folks you need to specifically set these so that they are only viewable to those you specify. If you have never changed these settings chances are your stuff is automatically public!

In addition to hiding my profile I also mark each of my photo albums so only my friends can view the pictures and I also keep each of my blog posts viewable by friends only. I don't wish to be contacted my people I am not friends with and protecting my personal information online is very important to me. Besides I don't want employers or backstabbers scouring my profile and blogs for information to use against me. If you wish to see what a "hidden profile" looks like visit: http://www.myspace.com/talinan . Follow the instructions below if you want to hide your photos or blogs on MySpace:

To hide selected photos & albums-
MySpace now lets you select who can and cannot see your uploaded photos. Visit the "add/ edit photos" area that is also right next to the user's icon photo on the account's homepage. Select the album you wish to edit, you will then see all the photos in the album and at the top of the album page an "options" link will appear. Click the "options" link and you will be able to specify who is able to view the photos in the album. You will need to complete this process for each album you have on MySpace to ensure your photos are hidden.

Hide written blog entries-
You can also protect your privacy by keeping your blogs written on MySpace accessible only to those on your friends list. When writing a blog entry before publishing you can select who will be able to view your entry, the selections are: public (everyone can read/ view), friends (only those on friends list can read/ view), diary (only you can read/ view) or preferred list (only those you have added to your preferred list can read/ view).

These days everyone has a personal networking profile somewhere; it could be MySpace, Facebook or any number of the other networking sites. Networking sites are good for a number of reasons but they can also get you into trouble if you are not careful!

The best way to protect your info on MySpace is to set your profile to private. You can do this under account settings once you sign in. I recommend making your profile viewable by friends only. This will keep your entire profile (except your default picture, name, headline, last login date, age & location) private. People will be able to search for and find you but they won't be able to view the information you put on your profile and the comments people leave for you unless you add them as a friend.

Social networking sites are very beneficial, are lots of fun and are a popular trend for both the young and old. There is no reason why you should be scared to join on of these sites, you just need to arm yourself with the necessary knowledge to protect your information in this technologically advanced day and age!
