Smart MySpace users share their info only with friends! These days everyone has a MySpace profile. MySpace is fun for the kids, it's a great social networking tool and it helps friends connect and stay in touch. The only down side to MySpace is that it is so public and so personal. These days if you don't hide your entire profile you will find your information, blogs and even your images in the search engines and people could even stalk you with the information on your profile!

Keeping your personal information private is very important and it's a matter of personal safety in this day an age. If you want to protect your information or learn new ways to keep your kids safe I have some great information for you. Fortunately, MySpace users now have a choice about what information they share online. There is an option to keep your entire profile private (so it is only viewable my friends). This is one of the easiest ways to keep your information and comments left for you private.

To hide your entire profile-
Hiding your entire profile is great because it will keep your about me section, comments, photos and basically everything but your icon image hidden from everyone except those people you have added as friends on MySpace. This will keep your information out of the search engines and it will keep strange people that you don't know from finding out information about you or your child. To make your profile private you just need to sign into the MySpace account, access the "account settings" menu that is right next to the user's icon photo on the account's homepage. From the "account settings" area you can select the "privacy" settings by clicking the link displayed near the top of the page labeled privacy. You will then be given an array of options designed to protect your privacy. With my own profile I have opted to display my profile to my friends only, I have also opted to not allow my photos to be shared/ emailed to others this ensures my privacy is protected.

Some MySpace users prefer more control over what portions of their profile are viewable. With some basic HTML or CSS knowledge a user can place code in their profile that is written to hide any portion of their profile.

To hide only selected portions of profile-
Choosing to hide only certain sections of a user's MySpace profile requires either HTML or CSS codes that you can paste into various sections of your profile to hide selected information. If you are a code whiz this may be no problem for you but for
