Can your credit score affect your home business?

The time will come when your credit score will affect what options in operating a home business. In a home business, you may not be thinking about credit right away, but the time will come that you will need more equipment, supplies, or inventory and you will not have a ready source of cash to pay for these business needs.

If you have anything less than an excellent FICO score, you will be paying a higher interest rate when it comes time to borrow for these aspects of your business. Your credit score is a number that helps lenders and others predict how likely you are to make your credit payments on time. This score will be a factor in how easily you make needed arrangements for the equipment, supplies, and inventory you need.

Don't give up your dream of a home business if you do not have that perfect score. Usually, you can feel optimistic about a FICO score of 680 or higher when it comes time to talk to a lender, but the lender will proceed cautiously with you if your score is below 680.

As a home business owner, you may be planning to use credit cards you already have. Your credit score was a major factor in determining your interest rate or credit limits. The interest rate and credit limit will affect the options you may have in operating your small business. If you have an excellent score AND if you improve your existing score, your financial dealings will be a lot easier and you and your business will save money with lower interest rates.

Your credit is critical to the options you have in your business. Working extra hard for longer hours cannot overcome poor credit when it
