Commentary: US education system needs "outside the box" reforms

The educational system in the US is in disarray. This will demand some thinking "Outside the Box" for real improvement. To waltz through the thinking process we should consider the rectangular parallelepiped as confining to creative solutions. What is a rectangular parallelepiped? In an effort not to be "boxed in" lets say that it is, quite simply, a box. The box, or rectangular parallelepiped, is hollow for our purpose and a geometric figure with six rectangular sides with all internal angles from surface to surface consisting of ninety degree angles.

Many have made improvements to the educational system and they truly believe they have thought "outside the box" or, if you prefer, outside the rectangular parallelepiped. But, in an effort to think outside the box, most will exit the box and find themselves confined in the factory that made the box. So here you are in a new and larger box. A small improvement in the confinement but, still very confining for waltzing one's thoughts to a good solution. A box dictates a rather myopic view of the problem and it's solution just as city dwellers arrive at a predictable set of waltz steps from the constant confinement of matchbox houses and buildings that are ever present within a city. This is juxtaposed to the farsighted thinkers in the wide open spaces. They develop a farsighted view which allows much less confinement and arrives at solutions that are truly outside the box. Thus, our problems may be solved in a completely different manner. This could be observed in the old 18th and early 19th century writers in America as versus modern writers. It is truly amazing to credit the results of the 18th century writers when much less existing knowledge was available for waltzing their thoughts. Credit less confinement for their success. In the city even the curbs of the streets cause an environment which is confining. You do not dance over the curb but, you dance between the curbs as humanly acquired habit. Your waltzing thoughts are definitely confined to hard and well defined limits.

Let's assume we are a box of barn matches. Also assume we escape the box. We are now standing in a larger box, the factory where the box was stored. We notice the small improvement in distances, but not in angles. We also notice trivial solutions to our educational problems. So freeing ourselves from the factory warehouse box let's cause some friction. Where there is friction, especially where matches are
