Sylvia Browne has long been considered one of the most popular spiritual mediums in the country if not the world. She is a bestselling American author on the subject of spirituality and a weekly guest on The Montel Williams Show. She claims that she started having visions when she was three years old and that her grandma who she says was a psychic medium helped her understand why she had them. Browne also claims that her great-uncle also claimed to be a psychic medium and concentrated on, and could have been thought to be obsessed with UFOs
Browne began giving psychic readings in 1974 and has attracted thousands of supporters. She has given thousands of one on one readings and as of 2007, she charges $750 for a 20-30 minute telephone reading Browne claims to have provided information to police departments and the FBI , along with claiming that she had worked with 350 doctors and had cured a child of seizures. Many doctors feel that Sylvia is not just full of baloney, but is very dangerous.
Browne says she knows what it is like in Heaven. In her book" Life On The Other Side," she says the temperature is a constant 78 degrees F, and that you can build your own home, among other things. Certainly a far cry from what I have heard about Heaven.
Sylvia Browne is famous for telling distraught parents where their missing children are - but she gets it wrong. Several years ago during one of her many appearances on the Montel Williams show, Browne told the parents of missing child Shawn Hornbeck that their son was dead. She told his parents that his remains would be found in a wooded area near two large boulders, and went so far as to describe the man that she claimed kidnapped this young boy. She went so far as to contact the Hornbeck family, following the Montel broadcast and offered her services to continue their discussion for a fee, what is scary about this, is if the family would have had the $700.00 plus they would have paid her to their son back, it's a good thing that they didn't, as their son and another boy were found alive in January of 2007, in the home of a Missouri man by the name of Michael Devlin who kidnapped them
I found it interesting that if you were to compile all of Sylvia's predictions, you would find she has been right only 6% of the time. That's 6 out of every 100 predictions.
She says that she is not psychic when it comes to her own affairs which was proven true when she and her former husband were indicted on several counts of investment fraud and grand theft after selling securities to a gold-mining venture. It was reported that they told a couple that their investment of $20,000 was going to be put to good use for immediate operating costs, in reality the money was transferred to an account for the Nirvana Foundation for Physic Research. Shortly after defrauding this couple, the Browne's filed bankruptcy.
Today, although she is quick to offer advice, provide answers, and gives unsuspecting audiences messages from dearly departed loved ones, nothing she says in verifiable, and has gone above and beyond to avoid any scientific testing of her purported powers.
She has been referred to by some as a disgusting, evil, vile woman" raking in millions on the vulnerability of the very ones that support her. On occasion, I have watched Sylvia on the Montel Show, and have to admit, have been caught up in some instances, so I would be less then forthcoming if I didn't admit that I was surprised at all the negativity about Sylvia. I will continue to watch her on Montel, if for nothing else, entertainment.
