IN AWE OF THE DAY

The sun is shining softly on the water
Diamond and ruby sparkles reflect in the gentle waves
as they softly kiss the beaches edge.

Who would have believed that just last night
the waves were crashing, the wind blowing and the rain
coming down in sheets so thick that the beach could not be seen.

The night was restless as the wind blew and the rain fell.
Lawn furniture slid across porches to crash into the pool.
The wind chime on the balcony chimed with unleashed abandon
as if to announce the oncoming storm.

The wind blew through the cracks around the door with the sound of a distant
train whistle, as the locomotion of wind banged into the window and doors
trying to gain entrance into the inner sanctum of the safety of home.

Thoughts raced through my mind at the pace of the beating waves as I
tried to find comfort in sleep. Only to leave me feeling beat and battered upon finally waking.

I awoke to the sound of seagulls and the early morning sun light.
I looked outside my bedroom window to see the most beautiful day of my life.

The sugar white sand on the beach was perfect without even one blemish to show that a person had ever walked upon it.

The water was as smooth as glass, with tiny bites of diamond and ruby reflections
that entwined with water the color of a peach as it first starts to ripen.

The beauty of something so beautiful and gentle that can also be so untamed and wild is amazing to me.

This morning must have been how it felt to God when he looked at the beauty that he had created.
Before it was touched by man.
Amazing
