"Roughing" it while out camping would mean, you and your companion/s
are exposing yourself to unwholesome situations and taking unwanted
risks,to benefit no one in particular.

Being not fully prepared and to take any kind of risk, while on a camping trip is really 'roughing' it.

Examples for such situation would include

1.Forgetting your cell phones and put yourself in " noncommunicado" kind of situations.

2.Selecting the location of your tent/camp.Needs to be done carefully. Not somewhere a puma can oversee you from his perch.

3.Not carrying enough drinking water and other important food items and packed well. You did not plan to go on "apple picking" or search for eatables in your camping site ? That is roughing it.

4.Not carrying a GPS in your car.Did you want to lose yourself near those mountain trails and tracks.Roughing it indeed.

5.Do not run out of or behind your schedules.You will fall short of many things in a situation like that.Not sticcking to previously decided schedules would be roughing it indeed.

6.When you are on excursion,for camping,set up a tent and enjoy nature and freedom from everything else,for a couple of days, it is fine indeed.But don't rough it.

In a nutshell, lack of good planning,not being fully and completely prepared in every which way possible ie from flashlight and its battery to your cellphone,GPS,Camera,toiletrie s,clothing,sleeping bags "all in" ; and exposing yourself to unnecessary risky situations and being out of communication with friends and relatives,yes that would be really "roughing" it!

In short "Take Care" indeed;as they say And no" roughing" it.
