Most of us take our eyes for granted but we really ought to look after them. Here are a few tips that can keep them healthy and feeling good.
Once a week, put a drop of honey in each eye. This reputedly cleans the eyes, so it is very beneficial but, be careful, it can cause a little irritation.
Don't wash your eyes and face after sweating. If you have been out in the sun or exercising so that you sweat, don't remove the excess moisture by washing, use a dry towel gently to pat your face dry.
When you wake up in the morning, you should fill your mouth with water, close your eyes and sprinkle them with cold water ten to fifteen times.
Try to sleep only in the hours of darkness. Ayurvedic medicine recommends that you don't stay up late or sleep after the sun has risen. If you do stay up late in the evening, drink a glass of water every hour.
Try not to get constipated. Constipation can weaken your eyesight and it is believed that it can be harmful to eyes to have too much anxiety, mental stress, grief, anger and worry.
Regular eye exercise can help you to keep perfect vision. Try the following simple exercise. Move your eyeball right and left, upwards and downwards and rotate it clockwise and anti-clockwise.
Palming' is another simple way of protecting your eyes. Rub the palms of your hands together for about 30 seconds to warm them, then close your eyes and gently place them over your eyes.
Finally, eating cabbage and carrots is good for your eyes. They are better if eaten raw or you could liquidise them and drink the juice either separately or mixed together.
