Short stories: The dollhouse mystery

The dollhouse mystery

Suspect:s : Mr . Partridge,Jenny

Somewhere, in a large city at the end of a strreet, there was a huge ancestral house, where a little girl used to play and lived in. This old house had a sign for sale and many visitors came to visit the interior and the land surrounding the house. This mansion used to belong to an aristocrat and went for sale many times.

This time ,the owner had lost his fortune and decided to put the house for sale. His daughter Jenny used to live with him and their janitor named Mr. Partridge. The little girl had just few friends and used to invite two of them at home to play with her . Her father gave to her a nice dollhouse as Christmas present and she was so happy to invite her friends to play with her.

Mr. Partridge used to clean the house and dislike the mess after Jenny's friends left the house. So he told to himself "one day I will put away this dollhouse, if I find this room in a mess again". During the weekend many visitors came to visit the house and sometimes children were visiting Jenny's bedroom. Certainly they were attracted to Jenny's dollhouse and were looking around her bedroom and were asking if the dollhouse was for sale too. Of course the furniture were not for sale so many children were disappointed.

Jenny had everything she whishes until lately where her father had lost his fortune and had to sale everything and move in a place less fortunate. So many days passed and nobody yet was interested in buying the house. Her father was asking to him if he will be able to reimburse his debts. Mr. Partridge will loose his job too, but Jenny's father promised that he will stay until the house will be sold.

One day, during an afternoon. a nice lady with a little girl ring at the doorbell, Mr. Partridge answered the door and let them going in; they presented themselves; she was a widow living alone with her daughter and were searching for a place to stay. The little girl had lost her father and was looking very sad. So they were visiting the house and Jenny's bedroom, she saw the dollhouse and fell in love with it. After the visit, Jenny felt so sad about the girl, that she promised to herself , if they buy the house she would give the dollhouse to her.

After a period of time the lady in question decided to buy the house. So Mr. Partridge helped Jenny and her father to pack everything and they found a modest house in another area of the town. Jenny's father packed everything but never saw the dollhouse in the boxes, he asked to Mr. Partridge if he saw the dollhouse, but he searched every where and never found it. They had an altercation between them and finally Jenny's father believed Mr. Partridge that it was stolen. During that time, Jenny didn't say a word, but in reality she hided the dollhouse in a closet for the little girl as a gift for her.

Many days later, after the lady and her daughter were moving into the house.,the little girl found the dollhouse in the closet and was so happy "maybe they forgot it " she said, her mother phoned Jenny's and found out later that Jenny gave the dollhouse to the little girl as a gift to her ,because she had lost her father and was feeling sad for her. The little girl wil never forget the gift and she kept the dollhouse all her life as a memory from Jenny 's thought.
