Short stories: A geography mystery

Fishing for Gold

Suspects: Salmon Myres, Peter "the Pike" Holster, Tracey Trout, and Roland Muskee:

"Your class projects will be due in three weeks. That will give you time enough to
research, write your reports and at the end deliver a concise presentation to the class." Salmon Myers closed the geography book and stood up from his chair.
"I have a bag with ten projects". Mr Myers shook the bag and began walking around the class room pausing at each group's desk. Jennifer and Tim drew the last paper from the bag and were rather disappointed with their selection. "Tim, why did you have to sit back here anyway?" Jennifer whispered as she looked at the other students.

"Hey, Tim. Look at Myers's socks." Jennifer whispered.
"He's just wearing one light blue sock. There's no excuse for that one!" Tim looked around to see if the group nearest their chair noticed the missing sock. Tracey Trout and Roland Muskee were discussing their project already whispering loudly so the teacher could hear.
"Class, you may spend the rest of your time outlining your project. Keep the noise down. Please. If you have questions save them till the end of class." Mr. Myers walked passed the desks sat down and pulled out a large black book with gold lettering on the spine.
"Tim, what's that book? It has the word coin on it," Jennifer said as she pushed her desk nearer to Tim's.
"Probably some geography book," Tim said. "He's always reading something about terrain. I mean he is a geography teacher. Just look at how he's dressed. Always the same khaki pants and flannel shirt. So what are we going to do about this geo-caching thing? Do you know what it is?" Tim looked at the paper and read the word a few times. Jennifer was getting out a note pad from her pack and ripped out a piece of paper.
"Do you have to be so loud?"
"Oh shut up! Now, I think geo-caching is like a treasure hunt. There are boxes all over the world with treasure and we have to find one. I think the best thing to do is search the internet." Jennifer wrote on her paper, beginning a list of things to do.
"This may not be so bad after all. Sure beats making a topo map!"
"Then we can take photographs of our search and make a map of where we went and how to find these treasures! Tim, I think we're going to have fun! Let's meet at the library after school. Ill go over to the Heritage Museum to let mom know what we're doing."
The bell rang and as usual no one went to ask Mr. Myers any questions.

"Mom!" Jennifer glanced around the cluttered
