Worst gift ideas for your girlfriend

You love her, you want to make her happy, so why would you buy her something that she really does not want? Spend some time shopping for your girlfriend and put some thought into it. You don't want to waste your time and money, and you definitely don't want to disappoint her. So, here are some things you should avoid doing at all costs.

Don't ever buy her something because you really want it and know you will be able to use it. That video game console that you have been eyeing all year. You know, the one that she has absolutely no interest in? It's not exactly good gift material. Or maybe those tools that caught your eye back in September, don't even consider it. There is nothing less romantic than getting a gift that is really for the person who purchased it in the first place.

Do not go to the perfume counter and randomly pick a bottle of perfume. Make note of the perfume that she wears or the scents that she comments on throughout the year that she would like to get. Perfume can smell different on everyone. Unless you know she likes it, you are wasting your hard earned money on an expensive bottle that will be used as a decoration or a paper-weight.

Don't buy her clothing unless you know her size and her style. Chances are she will probably end up returning it. For starters, she may have a unique style that she likes that you don't know anything about. And, do you really want to offend her if you buy the clothing too big? After all, women's sizes do differ from men's sizes. It is an honest mistake that men tend to make, but definitely one that you probably are better off avoiding unless you want to spend the next week miserable.

Women aren't always looking for practical gifts from their significant other, romance or thoughtfulness is usually the key. So, unless she asked for that washer/dryer combination or that vacuum, these are usually good gifts to avoid. These are fine for other people and family members, but appliances and gifts that bring to mind cleaning and household chores are really not what one would call romantic.

Just keep in mind that you are trying to be thoughtful and buy something that she will love. Give yourself plenty of time to look around and choose carefully. Whatever you get does not have to be expensive, it just needs to show that you did your homework and know what she likes. Whether she is in to sports or fashion and beauty, there are so many places now to get items that can fit any personality. Do your homework and make her a happy woman.
