Card combos and synergies are important to the game of magic, and are critical to the success of any deck. Here's a list of a few of the combinations of cards you will see in Standard format tournaments:
Dragonstorm + Bogardan Hellkite
Dragonstorm brings out a dragon for 9 mana and has storm, a perfect match for Bogardan Hellkite, which deals 5 damage when it enters play. Add mana ramping cards so you can play dragonstorm by turn four (Lotus Bloom, Rite of Flame, Etc.) and draw cards so you can find your combo pieces.
Brine Elemental + Vesuvan Shapeshifter
When Brine Elemental is turned face up, your opponent skips their untap phase. With Vesuvan Shapeshifter you can copy the effect of Brine Elemental every turn by flipping Shapeshifter over at the upkeep step and you have your opponent in a lock.
Scryb Ranger + Spectral Force
Scryb Ranger allows you to untap a creature by bouncing a forest to your hand. In this case, you'll be able to untap Spectral Force, an 8/8 trampler for five mana, anytime you want.
Grim Harvest + Shriekmaw
Shriekmaw is a nice card for creature control, and evoke allows you to play it quickly. Grim Harvest will allow you to keep recurring Shriekmaw into your hand, giving you a constant source for spot creature control/
Stuffy Doll + Pariah's Shield
Pariah's Shield directs any damage that would be dealt to you to the equipped creature instead. With it equipped to Stuffy Doll, who deals any damage dealt to it to your opponent, you can't be dealt any damage and your opponent takes the damage instead.
Saffi Eriksdotter + Crypt Champion + Soul Warden
This combo is a recipe for infinite life. When you play Crypt Champion without paying a red mana, he is sacrificed after he comes into play. Sacrifice your Saffi Eriksdotter in response to Crypt Champion coming into play targeting Crypt Champion. When Crypt Champion resolves, return Saffi Eriksdotter to play. Crypt Champion comes back into play because of the first Saffi Eriksdotter, and then just continue to repeat the loop. With Soul warden in play, you gain one life every time a creature comes into play, giving you infinite life.
Restore Balance + Sky Swallower
When Sky Swallower comes into play his sends all your permanents into your opponent's control. If you set it up with Restore Balance, you end up with an 8/8 flier and your opponent has no other permanents other than one creature, giving you a perfect win condition.
Norin the Wary + Pandemonium
This is just a fun combo, but it can work out if you play it right. Norin the Wary is removed from play every time a player plays a spell or a creature attacks and returns at the end of the turn. Pandemonium deals damage equal to the creatures power when it comes into play. Norin the Wary popping out of play every turn results in a constant source of two damage every turn.
Loxodon Warhammer + Troll Ascetic
There isn't anything complex about this combination, but it is worth mentioning. Equip Loxodon Warhammer to your Troll Ascetic and you have a 6/2 creature that can't be targeted by spells and abilities your opponent controls, has regeneration, and has trample. Very tricky for your opponent to deal with.
