Secrets to developing as a dancer when you have two left feet

The dance is the most ancient of mankind's group activities. Any traveler who has passed through regions of Europe will have seen the circle dances. Those dances mirrowed in native American dances and in African tribal dances denoted hierarchy and communal acceptance.
Those are obvious parts of the dance that we know of. There are in those circle dances, two partner dancing which involves a breaking off of the circle and separating. The circle dancers pretend not to notice the pairs that break off from the circle. The obvious mating symbolism cannot be denied. Obviously if you are dancing in the center of some place and there are spectators, you will obviously be obviously watched. As a matter of fact, since the dance was part of the coming out ritual of wealthy children, they meant for their children to be seen. Now, what you want to do is to escape without being branded as a dunce, or a boor, or with two left feet. Cause then, you got problems with the social group that you are a part of.

Rule number 1, if you are not a part of a group of girls or boys who have been dancing secretely in their living rooms, or dens, or basements, or whatever, and have the moves down pat don't I repeat don't stare gawkingly at those who are. Mingle if you can and make a move to the dance floor after it is well populated with bodies. Choose a partner who isn't using you to get someone else's attention and be satisfied to give your partner your undivided attention. That will immediately make you feel at ease. Two geeks having a good time without exaggerated moves and with a sense of themselves and where they are, are usually appreciated far more than a dance school show off doing cheerleader skits in the middle of the room.
Rule number 2, before you go to the dance check out your wardrobe. You want to blend in but not too much in. Your clothes should be about as expensive as you can afford without taking out a loan. After all people know you even if you don't know them. You don't want to dress down to them if you're one of the wealthy ones, and you don't want to stun them with runway togs.
Rule 3, Do take a drink of soda or something, and relax. A relaxed dancer soon finds his right leg from his left.
