In today's society, it is pretty much unheard of to have an arranged marriage. I mean, don't get me wrong, I could probably see having an arranged marriage maybe 250 years ago...you know, when women couldn't vote, and white people owned slaves, but today, I believe arranged marriage is almost a form of slavery in itself. It is your right to choose who you want to spend your life with, and in no way should be your parents financial decision. Another factor that comes into play with arranged marriage is homosexuality. Say you're a young woman who has been arranged to marry a young man, but you actually like other young women! It would be completely devastating for someone to be forced into a situation like that. In addition, it would be extremely odd to marry someone you had never really spent any time with, even if you had met your future spouse, they might be all wrong for you-50% of regular marriages end in divorce....I couldn't even imagine how many arranged marriages would! Life in today's society is way too liberal for arranged marriages. It is definitely something that should not be tolerated by anyone. It may be tradition in some cultures, but that in no way makes it right. Times have changes, and so should this ridiculously outdated notion!
