of us stood there bewildered and appalled. These people are victims? I will never believe that.
The prison van had left. There was nothing more that could be done. Now I had to regain some sort of composure to phone your mum and dad. I dashed to the Ladies, freshened up as best I could and rang to tell them the worst news I've ever had to tell anyone. Josie helped me pull myself together; I had to be strong for your parents and of course I had to be strong for Sam who now was to grow up in a system he knew firsthand was flawed and unfair. "There's no justice in this world - there just isn't," I sobbed, as we left the courthouse.
Josie suggested we go to a nearby church and light a candle for you. I prayed like I had never prayed before and all I could hope for now was Divine Justice, that someday the wrongs that had been done to you would somehow be righted.

No one could tell us which prison you had been sent to and later at your parents' house your brother had to ring nearly every prison in the North before we located you. So now you have a number after your name.
"Have you got a pen?" the operator said chirpily."He's settling in just fine and we've given him a welcome pack."
