Childhood shapes adulthood. Memories of events, situations, favouritism of parents, who gets what when how and why, rarely fade. Most problems between siblings as adults have their root cause in rivalry as children.
Why? Because people never stop jockeying for position, reputation and image, and no where but in the family can such jockeying have such devestating results. Think about it. Children will do nearly anything for their parents positive attention [they will do anything for any kind of attention] and if they see a sibling getting more than them at any given time they will be jealous and instantly competitive. It takes real maturity and awareness to put aside these feelings for the betterment of your own life and the life of your siblings, no matter what age you are when you attain it.
