How to market your Helium article

communities are made up of people who may have strict standards about the type of user who can participate. These standards include rules about the types of material that a user can submit. Some communities are also very picky about whether or not you may submit your own material, especially if you are a new member. If the community accepts you and respects you, you may do very well. If you don't follow the rules, you won't be successful and your on-line reputation may be tarnished, which will severely limit your income opportunities. To maximize your earning potential, you need to know the community's rules and you need to become an accepted and trusted member of that community.

b) Don't submit content to a site where it doesn't belong. See point a).

c) Do not submit too much content at once - these sites can penalize you if they think you are spamming them. Again, see point a).

d) You need to develop friends, contacts, acquaintances, and/or colleagues to be successful. These people, if you cultivate these relationships correctly, can become loyal readers and can help you in your marketing efforts. However, if you break the rules of conduct, or if you don't treat them with respect, you'll lose their support. The Golden Rule applies here: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Despite the work that's involved in being successful, my own experience indicates that YOU must take responsibility for marketing your writing, especially in the early stages of your career, if you want to be successful. These sites are not a "get rich quick" solution to making money. However, they do have potential to supplement your regular income and, perhaps with a lot of hard work and effort, they can become your major source of income. Just don't underestimate the both the planning and the effort that you'll need to expend to be successful.
