Everyone loves long, silky, luxurious hair. It's glamorous and sexy. Men love to run their hands through it. Women love to flip it playfully. But as appealing as all that sounds, what I have to tell you is unappealing. You cannot grow hair out fast. Sorry. As painful as it is to hear, it is true. The title of this article should be "How to make hair growth more efficiently." Hair grows a half inch a month. The older you are, the slower it grows. Sorry, there is no miracle elixir, pill or shampoo to make it happen. If you want long hair fast, get a weave. But what I can tell you is that you can grow your hair out more efficiently if you follow some simple and practical tips. These are tips I have been giving my clients for the last five years. I'm not saying it will be easy. Then again, when is beauty ever easy?
First things first - Your health. One thing to remember: What you put into your body is what comes out. If you put garbage in your body, then garbage will come out. Junk food, alcohol, tobacco, street drugs, fat, cholesterol, sugar, grease and preservatives are all examples of garbage. Now there is nothing wrong with a couple of drinks but let's keep it at a minimum. Excessive alcohol consumption will dehydrate your body and your hair. The same with tobacco. Street drugs fry your brain cells; therefore they will fry the cells that help your hair grow. Junk food, fat, sugar, grease, preservatives and cholesterol will just make your hair greasy, limp and dull. Prescription drugs will alter the condition of your hair but if you have to take them then there is nothing you can do. It might take you a little longer to grow your hair.
As for vitamins, it wouldn't hurt but if you are eating right it's not that necessary. There are "hair vitamins," which consist of biotin and the vitamin B's and is a very popular supplement to take for hair growth. The following link is from About.com. It lists the vitamins and minerals essential for hair growth and to prevent hair loss as well as what foods contain the vitamins and minerals. What is not listed is selenium. This is important for immune system function but too much selenium could lead to a loss of skin, hair and nails. So be careful.
