Any time a candidate has the grass roots support Ron Paul's anti-war, anti-tax stand has generated, he has a chance. Though his electability has been proven only in the Congressional seat level and in neither a statewide nor national election, he has a chance.
Todays elections most often have been won by centrists of either party giving rise to the notion that our two party system has degenerated into a choice of Twiddledum or Twiddledee. A quiet revolution has been growing among the people to overthrow this government by the corporations, for the corporations, so help them God. The election of a Democratic congress to oppose the most corrupt administration in our nations history brought about the selection of the first woman to hold the Speaker's Chair. One of Nancy Pellosi's first declarations was that she was taking impeachment off the table. This was just one of a number of moves that, rather than braking the acts of a power crazed administration, gave it continuing Carte Blanche to do whatever it desired.
A large minority of the public, sickened by the excesses of both Republicans and Democrats have flocked to the banner of the anti-establishment credentials displayed by Dr. Paul. He exhibits both courage and consistency in a battle against the excesses of the federal government that has led to failure to secure our ports and borders; ever higher taxes on the middle class while reducing both corporate taxes and reducing the taxes on the wealthiest three percent of Americans; a frenzy of outsourcing of manufacturing jobs for the benefit of corporate giants at the expense of the middle class, while replacing those jobs with service jobs that pay less. The list of grievances continues to grow and the people have become aware enough to revolt through the ballot box.
Dr. Paul has just as consistently disavowed any desire to form a third party, being aware that third parties, even when lead by popular former presidents are doomed to lose. He realizes that it takes money to overcome the media bias that exists toward his candidacy, but the great financial gains he has made have been initiated by his supporters on their own. As more and more people awaken to the fact that change must be made if we are to survive as a constitutional democratic republic; that a revolution at the ballot box, rather than through force of arms is needed, more will turn to the leadership of Dr. Paul. Though the odds are stacked in favor of the establishment, Paul's chances require the work of individuals to spread his support. The advent of the Internet makes the rapid growth in support he needs possible. When Ron Paul wins, the American people win. It can happen.
