Billy The Kid is a Documentary of a 15 year old boy living in Lisbon Falls, Maine. The Documentary gives you an incredible insight into this young mans life and the ever so normal interests of every 15 year old boy, girls (one particular girl for Billy) and music (heavy metal) while encompassing Billy's dreams of super hero status as well as rock star.
This film was plainly awesome for me because I live in Maine and have been to and through Lisbon Falls on many occasions. The film shows Maine in two different seasons, summer and winter in the year of 2005. The film follows Billy's articulate way of thinking while drawing off his warm relationship with his mother Penny.
Billy discusses his past of troubles while adjusting to living in a new town and attending a new school. Billys overt way of expressing himself finds him trouble with the town bullies while trying to catch the eye of one particular girl named heather. It's a great Documentary of Billys life in a small rural town and how he copes with his everyday dealings with emotion and self expression.
I am so impressed with this Documentary cause it is like none other I have seen before. Jennifer Venditti's ability to release this boys infectious teenage point of views and life is extraordinary and refreshing to say the least. While watching the film you cannot help but admire the kid and feel for him at the same time. It truly captured life for a teenage boy in Maine in every aspect.
The film has managed to get high rank between critics and viewers alike. The Documentary has also won awards as well, Jury Award - Best Documentary Feature (Documentary Competition) - 2007 SXSW.Target Documentary Award - Best Documentary Feature - 2007 Los Angeles Film Festival.
I give this Documentary film a perfect ten and suggest to everyone that it is a must see. I can guarantee after watching the film you will probably want to watch it again, that is how good it is. It's a pretty safe film for all ages and especially for the family. It will definitely hit home with kids his age and adults with children of that age group as well.
