If gone about in the right way being a vegetarian can be a very healthy thing. Just because some go around saying they are giving up meat and don't do anything to replace the value of it in their diet doesn't mean it's unhealthy for all. You can lead a perfectly healthy lifestyle and be a vegetarian. I should know considering I am one. And according to my doctor I'm just fine as far as getting the proper nutrients in my diet.
The fact is that, yes, there are many who go about switching to this different lifestyle not being prepared to make all the changes that it requires. However, if you are smart enough to take supplements and eat right, not junk, then becoming a vegetarian can be an excellent way to live. I know personally I feel much better since I tried it.
It is true that some people need to eat meat to maintain their health if that is what their body craves. Our body craves things for a reason. It's normally to tell us " hey, i need some of that!" We can't ignore what our personal needs are.
The same can be said of me. I used to get very ill after eating things like hamburger, pork or steak. That is why I've become a vegetarian. It's really what MY body was telling me to do. Turns out my system can't handle the heavy foods such as meat. Doesn't mean I'm unhealthy in any way. Now I'm truly much healthier. Because of that I know i can say that it is definitely not true that being a vegetarian is unhealthy.
