Here are some easy Christmas crafts I have done with my children.
The paper chain:
Cut construction paper into strips and let the kids use a glue stick to put them together. You'll have to show them how to roll them and link them but they should get the idea fairly quick. Unless they are good with a scissors don't let them cut the strips. You can also let them draw on them or put stickers on.
Bells:
For these bells you will need plastic cups, foil, and pipe cleaners. Put the cups open side down and wrap them in aluminum foil. Then poke a hole in the top and fold the pipe cleaner in half to make a loop and put it through and twist it inside the cup so it doesn't slip out. I have several of these on our tree.
Merry Christmas Banner:
On regular paper either freehand or print out Merry Christmas in bubble letters. I prefer to tape the pieces of paper together and make the letters myself. Then I let the kids color in the letters and put stickers on them. I have also done this for birthday parties.
Personalized wrapping paper:
Using plain white packing paper I wrap up the presents in it and let them go nuts putting whatever they want on it. Drawing pictures or scribbles on the paper is great fun for them. They usually like to put stickers on them too.
Popcorn string:
You may not want to put it in the house but it is great for putting outside. Make a bunch of popcorn and let them string it up. Be careful with using a needle though so they don't poke themselves. This is a pretty old idea for decorating though.
There are lots of things you can let your toddlers do to help decorate for the holidays. You just need to use your imagination and add in things that they like to do to make it fun for them.
