I was the victim of unauthorized charges while making a purchase on the Internet this year. Desperately seeking an alternative, I have applied for the Rushcard. Out of the two designs offered, I was immediately drawn to the Baby Phat design. However, I can have both the Baby Phat and the traditional RushCard at the same time. Looking back, I realize I should have thoroughly read through the site to weigh the pros and cons.
PROS
I love that the RushCard is prepaid. In the past, I have overspent on clothes, shoes and makeup. I figured if I got a card, loaded it with a fixed amount of money, then there's no way I would go over the limit and incur fees. Consumers as young as 13 can apply with parental consent. Parents are given the chance to teach their teenagers how to be responsible with money. What better way than with a prepaid card?
After a particularly exhilarating day of shopping, I like to go online and track my spending. It doesn't matter if it's early in the morning or late at night-I have 24/7 online access. Since I'm an owl, I really appreciate this feature.
Sometimes, the best deals are online, particularly around the holidays and after New Year's. Now I find myself finding solace in that my card is protected by Visa's Zero Liability Policy.
Free direct deposit. I am a little surprised that UniRush Financial Services doesn't charge a fee for loading money on the card. I can even load my income tax return. However, I am appreciative. Not only that, the card comes with its own PIN number so I can withdraw money from over 800,000 ATMs worldwide. This little feature comes in handy when I shop at vendors who don't accept credit cards.
Like almost every other Visa, shopping with the RushCard can earn you rewards and discounts. It really is like a sale everyday! This is, hands down, my favorite feature about using this card. Participating vendors include Papa John's, Fashion Bug, A|X, and Timberland. For a complete listing, you should visit Visa's website.
Since, I'm a social shopper-I just have to buy something when I'm out with friends, no matter what the cost-I earned money by
