Since I live in Las Vegas it would be next to impossible to put together a guide to all the New Year's Eve events for that night. Knowing there are so many parties happening on New Years Eve listing every party and every event going on in this town New Years Ever just cannot be done. Even if one tried, it would be impossible to put together a total guide of everything available, some are not even listed for the general public. Many of the parties that happen in Vegas are for the very rich. People who do not have a large bank roll are not even be able to get close to most of the parties held at the hotels on New Year's Eve. Though I will try go over the highlights that happen in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve.
One of the reasons it would be hard to list everything happening on New Years Eve is because there are so many private parties held for the very rich in this town, and those who travel to Las Vegas to celebrate New Year's Eve. Every hotel from the Sahara Hotel to the Luxor Hotel hold private parties that are very extravagant. I only know that because our news stations cover some of them, and even they repeat how exclusive the parties are.
You can find a party at any Hotel on the Strip that will cost a few hundred dollars a person, these are usually sold out during the previous New Year's Eve. They are exclusive, yet you are able to get in if you are lucky enough to find a few extra tickets, but this is rare.
Then there are the REAL parties, for the people who want to have and enjoy being with the crowd. This starts close to 7 or 8 pm, remember we have to think about the east coast so they will check in on the massive celebration held in many different places and in Las Vegas. The first is outside on the Strip. There are thousands of people in the street just like Time Square. People are out walking the Strip, hanging out waiting for midnight and the fireworks display to begin, the fireworks lasts about 10 minutes to welcome in the New Year.
Then there is fun Downtown, huge crowds wandering in and out of the hotels. You can walk into one hotel and a serve will hand you a glass of Champaign, walk out of the same casino and another server is there with another complimentary glass of Champaign. Mayor Goodman is normally holding some type of contest so Las Vegas can get in the Guinness World Book or Records. This year he did it early, Mayor Goodman had 8,000 people, dogs, cats, and kids dress up in Santa Claus outfits; now we hold the record for the most Santa's
