Personally, my favorite cheap Christmas gift to buy is houseplants. You can get a houseplant at any grocery store for under ten bucks, houseplants add quality decor and fresh clean air to the space around them - and everyone will use them as they're intended to be used. Houseplants are great for livening up dull dreary spaces like office cubicles and bathrooms. Everyone can always use another houseplant.

I also like the idea of getting a young fruit tree. They can be ordered online for as little as twenty dollars when they are already several feet tall. These can be enjoyed by anyone who owns their own property. The tree can be enjoyed for years to come both aesthetically and when it bears its fruits. If you know the people well, you'll likely get a chance to taste the fruit of your laborious online transaction.

Berry bushes are another good choice, for the same reasons as fruit trees. They are smaller and are better gifts for people who rent their homes. Berry bushes are also good alternatives to fruit trees if the buyer is just on too tight a budget for a fruit tree. Berry bushes cost less than five dollars online, not including shipping charges.

These are cheap gifts, that people will love. These gifts seem like they are more expensive than they are, and it seems like the giver has put a lot of thought into the gift.
