should have a plan that includes, "providing information about VA resources and assisting persons in applying for income security and health security benefits (such as Supplemental Security Income, Social Security Disability Insurance, veteran disability compensation, and Medicaid) prior to release." If policies are put into action that include this information and interview those who are being released; I believe this would help reduce the number veterans that could end up homeless.
Homeless Veterans are in need of help, and it's a shame that our country is not doing more to help get them off the streets. If our government were to establish better programs that work towards preventing future veterans from becoming homeless, and getting those who are already homeless off the streets, this problem would be abolished. It is obvious that what is being done now is not enough, and it's time to protect those who worked so hard at protecting us.
