Yes.
Homeschooling usually carries a stigma. It is not altogether unfounded. There are many home schooled kids who are taught a trade from an early age and thus lack a lot of the general education that is given to public school kids, but puts them head and shoulders above almost all in there particular field of choice.
To some home schooled kids, who attain a high degree of scholastic discipline, and are able to have a parent or tutor who is well versed in the things needed to prepare the student for college, can succeed much like the child who learns the trade.
This is by far the exception and not the rule. Not to be discouraging, but if you have the money to attend college, you could be a trained monkey. Colleges, like everything else, are businesses. Not to downplay the moral integrity of such institutions but money does talk.
If you plan on homeschooling your child there are a few things that you should consider.
1. Do you have the time to devote to the development of your child?
2. Do you have the knowledge and patience to teach?
3. Do you have enough learning development tools to help you?
4. Do you have a plan for social behavior and growth?
5. Do you have a physical fitness plan?
When considering all, you must also consider that it is a full-term thing. You can't just decide to send him to school in 5th grade and think all will be okay.
As for college, I sure hope parents are able to get there kids into college because "home schooled" under EDUCATION on your child's resume is not exactly job worthy material
