came in a packet of 4 for $1.00 from the same dollar store (okay so I kept one). Two of the gifts are $1.00 lottery scratch tickets. Two other gifts contain a $10.00 gift certificate each to a local store so he can purchase what he would really like for Xmas. Another gift contains a package of "loaded dice" which come with the claim that they will roll only a seven or eleven. The last present contains beautiful sparkly "paper fill" in it and on it nestle seven rubber flies. When he phones me he is still laughing, he says,"I can understand the kitty stuff but what the heck is the meaning behind the flies?" I reply, "Has anyone else ever given you flies as a gift?". The answer of course is no and I say, "Only I would give you flies for a gift!" He's still chuckling and he is more relaxed than I have heard him all season.
Other gifts that were given quite often during previous seasons was the slipping of a $5.00 to $20.00 bill into the pocket of a coat as I hung up my own. Doggy or kitty treats taken to a home or regularly slipped through a fence to an animal who didn't seem to get a lot of attention. Sitting with a lonely neighbor.
And I know that I shouldn't have because it may not be good for him/her, but I gave an occasional bottle or case of beer to an alcoholic person, because it was what they really wanted.
Funny I never noticed before but, now that I am proof reading this I realize, giving someone else a good Christmas often involves giving them your own Christmas.
Have a great Christmas everyone.
