A planter of freedom-
I've buried oppression
In my underground breast
So liberation can overshadow
My pain and despair
My feelings of insignificance
I am a woman
A creator of theory-
I've put the 'woman' in womanism
Invented "a way out of no way"
In order to shape my voice
In my phenomenal body and soul
Can you hear me pulsing?
I am a woman
A writer of truth-
I've pulled words out of sweat
Written masterpieces in blood
Turned my tears into diamonds
I need neither wings nor halos
I redefine the art of scribes-
I am divine
