When I hear the word beer drinker, I smile. I used to picture a rugged guy with a beard and a frosty mustache. Now, I think of myself. For the past eight years of my life, I sipped wine, cosmos and champagne with the other ladies. A few months ago, however, a good friend introduced me to the world of great beer. While my beer drinking experience is relatively new, I have always been a quick learner. I have three excellent gift ideas for all the jolly beer drinkers out there.
The best gift a beer drinker could receive is a subscription to a beer of the month club. There are various clubs offering different advantages and ranging in price. Personally, I am a member of the Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club, which is slightly less expensive than most clubs costing twenty dollars a month. Some clubs offer a bi-monthly membership or quarterly membership which helps with the cost. Regardless, you cannot go wrong by giving a membership to an avid beer drinker. What beer drinker would not be thrilled with receiving beer in the mail every month?
If a beer of the month subscription is too expensive or illegal in your state (state laws vary on mailing alcohol), another great idea is to present them with the Sam Adams "new glass." Sam Adams recently released a beer drinking glass that has been created to showcase beers. The glass has a neck-and-lip design that assists in maintaining the head of the beer, which facilitates the release of hop aromas. The glass also has a laser etching that sustains bubble flow throughout the beer. It is the first beer drinking glass that actually enhances the beer drinking experience. Sam Adams sells four glasses for thirty dollars, providing a great and affordable present for all beer drinkers.
Finally, if these presents seem too flashy for your country boy (or girl) beer drinking friend or family member, buy him (or her) their favorite beer. You cannot go wrong. If you want to get them a special beer or something slightly more creative than their standard case of Bud, I recommend a seasonal beer, such as Troeg's Mad Elf. Troeg's Mad Elf is delicious but expensive, running close to fifty dollars a case. It sells fast so please call ahead to see if your local brewer has any in stock. If you choose to follow my recommendation, please inform the lucky gift recipient that the alcohol content in Mad Elf is much higher than a normal beer, containing close to twelve percent. Otherwise, the beer may transform your friend or family member into something similar to a mad elf. Tis the Season!
