Why its better to give than receive. It's always better to give than receive if you are able to do so, because you aren't placed in the uncomfortable position of feeling obligated to another person for receiving a gift. It is also a gift in and of itself to be able to give and not receive.
Society, traditionally encourages us to be givers and not takers. This could be considered by some people as a sin of pride. There are others who feel that it's perfectly OK to be a giver rather than a taker. Giving to others provides intrinsic rewards to the giver while being a taker may offer little or no reward to the receiver.
It is nice to receive a gift on your birthday or at Christmas, because it makes you feel loved, special and favored by others. It is even more enjoyable to be able to see the happiness that you brought to a child's Christmas day when they receive that special gift they've always wanted. Christmas gift giving is often a rewarding, fun adventure as well as emotionally uplifting for the shopper. Givers are certainly blessed in many ways. The ability to give rather than take is a sign of abundance. Taking, on the other hand, is often associated with the lack of abundance.
