Your most meaningful family traditions

This was easy when I was not a single Father of three beautiful, but very different girls. You rack your brain trying desparately to be more than just a Dad. You need and want soo much to be more, to leave that memory in your children's mind. Sometimes we lose sight of what our children really want. They want to be with you, they want your attention, your love. No matter what the tradition is, it is something that must be done together.

I have my movie night. It is always the first night I pick up my girls. We go to the movie store and look for a movie, snacks, and a slushie. That's right, a slushie. Traditions become what they are, often you do not realize what they have become until the child looks up at you with those eyes and says, "what about the slushies Dad."

We take the movie rented or an old movie if we could not find anything. We get our snacks and slushies, settle in front of the TV and watch our movie as a family. One Dad and 3 beautiful daughters, crushed together, each Daughter wanting to sit beside their Dad. My 10 year old, My 8 year old and my 5 year old.

I hope for my sake, they always want to sit beside their Dad. I truly believe that children of divorce want one thing. I have seen it now for almost 4 years. They want attention and love. Often divorcing parents will spoil the kids, but that is not what the child needs. Love, love in stucture, in hugs, in kind words and in punishment. Children need traditions and stability.
