Torture as an interrogation technique is a common practice, it is the essence of getting answers, and finding the secrets one mans hides. Otherwise untold, and hidden forever.

Torture, is Latin for, to twist.
We can explore these extreme measures of torture. Dating back to the days of Heresy, too Rome, and Ancient Greece.

The worst kind of Torture, must have been being burned by fire at the stake. Do you Remember stories of the salom witch trials in England?

Torture techniques were recorded, dating back to the Middle Ages, and beyond.
Every one has heard of the bed of nails, or the bed that stretches you inch, by inch, until the Vertebrates starts to pop in your spine, and neck? Have you ever seen the Adams family? These were very effective at getting you to talk. A few examples, bamboo underneath your finger nails? very painful indeed.
Russia used drugs, truth serum, even the use of electricity was an excepted form of Torture technique. Have you ever seen the movie Rambo?
Yes, its true By todays standards, Torture as an interrogation technique is still very effective. Police interrogate, and threaten you with jail time. They may place you under bight lights and question you, over and over again.

Even when you join the army, now your off to boot camp. They do torture you. They deprive you of sleep. Threatening you with a life in the worst Federal prisons in America. Why? If you do not follow orders, you become the enemy, simple as that. All this, in a effort to break you. To bend your will sort of speak. They hope you will conform to there social standards, and military governing laws.
Then its time for the brainwash, they make every effort, so you become the perfect killing machine, a soldier of war. Have you ever seen the movie full metal jacket?

Although torture techniques, by 20th Century standards have changed over the years, There still remains a fine ethical line, that should never be crossed. laws made to protect against,
human rights, may prevent these crimes against humanity in the future. After World War II, after the Holocaust, may crimes that were carried out by Nazi Germany were deemed to extreme. The international community agreed, and set up laws that would eventually protect Human rights, Human lives for gods sake, the right to live. Such crimes being defined, and signed
By many many nations, are prosecutable under Federal, and international laws, and regulations.

Ever heard of the Geneva Convention?

Essentially, a comprised of the Geneva Convention, the Hague Conventions, as well as other treaties, case law, and customary international law was made. We agree to protect these rights as these treaty's are defined. They include conduct, and responsibilities.
We can have any belligerent nations? These laws, and treaties were signed, and protect mans human rights when we are at war. In the case these laws are violated. the governing body is the ICRC. Or you can search the International Humanitarian Law - Treaties & Documents, for more information on these laws.

In spite of an absolute prohibition against torture under international law, some efforts have been made to justify torture as an appropriate method for combating terrorism, but this is in direct violation with these laws, and treaties, and should be punishable, and enforced against any and all violators. It will be a sad day when nation violate these treaties, and are found not guilty for doing so.
