Hybrid: Overview

So you want to buy a hybrid? But what is a hybrid exactly? A hybrid car is an environmentally friendly answer to the traditional car. A hybrid car is a vehicle that runs on two sources of power usually one being a regular combustible engine and the other being an electrical motor that is powered by electrical batteries. Please note that there is a subclass of hybrids called mild hybrids which are conventional vehicles with an over sized starter motor. This allows the engine to be shut off periodically like when braking to save gas. They do posses batteries to power the electronic items of the vehicle but they do not possess an electric motor like a full fledged hybrid. A mild hybrid is cheaper than a full hybrid or overhauling your car to be a hybrid but the mild hybrid will not get the same fuel efficiency of hybrids. There are many benefits to a hybrid that can add to its value. First is the most obvious fuel efficiency this is due to three unique abilities. The first of these is reducing wasted energy by turning off things when they are idle. Secondly is reducing the size and power of your cars underutilization. Lastly is the ability to reuse wasted energy such of something like braking. Combine that with a combined diesel and electric engine that is able to be switched by command of the driver your cars value increases when you see how much money you save on gas. A second advantage of hybrids is that hybrids lack the major disadvantages of regular cars and purely electric car. While regular cars cost you extremely at the gas station hybrids have been proven to be vastly more fuel efficient due to the dual engine setup and many other factors such as the vehicle's design. A hybrid vehicle is more environmentally friendly with its lower emissions than a regular car. A purely electric car may get better fuel emissions than a hybrid car but a lack of of specialized recharging stations so the car can be refueled and a really short range make a the hybrid a better value than an electric car. Additionally if the battery runs out of energy the car dies like a child's toy while a hybrid at the very least can go off of regular fuel. Even the government is adding to the value of the hybrid by offering up to thirty-four thousand dollars for your taxes for the first sixty thousand hybrid vehicles purchased on a yearly basis. Remember this a hybrid car is just like any other car when making a purchase weight the advantages and negatives before you make the purchase.
