Explaining the fullness of the Holy Spirit

By the fullness of the Holy Spirit, we mean that we are full of God's presence. God wants to fill us with the Holy Spirit for a number of reasons. He desires to rebuild us, set us free from sin and limitations and allow heaven to be experienced on the earth. So the plan is basically twofold: to allow full and complete communication with the Father and to bring the power of the Spirit into our daily life. Jesus said He did nothing that He didn't hear from the Father. He was not self-directed, but Father-directed. Even though Jesus created the world, He laid it down by assuming full humanity and demonstrating what we, as believers, could accomplish.

The Holy Spirit cannot fill what is already full. We must be emptied of self and sin for full occupation. The way must be prepared by our repentance and our willingness to move in new power. We can't be satisfied with the old standards or rituals. We must grow when the Spirit takes control. For example, if someone asked me to pray for the sick, I would normally go through the motions, but in my heart of hearts my thoughts were these, "I know God can heal. I've seen healing, but probably not now. Not here for me. It would be nice, but not likely." So my prayers lacked power and faith.

When the Holy Spirit challenged me and my slippage of faith, it shook me up. I had been limiting God and settling for nice sounding prayers. So I repented of my false beliefs that had crept in and asked God to use me and fill me. I was to be tested shortly.

A couple of days later an eighty-year-old woman in our church had more than 90% clogging of her carotid arteries and she was scheduled for immediate surgery in the morning. They were afraid she wouldn't live through the weekend. I was asked to pray for her. This time I asked the Father what to pray and I said this as I laid my hands on her neck, "In the name of Jesus, I declare these arteries clear. You are already healed. When you go to the doctor tomorrow, they will say, There's nothing wrong with you. Why are you here? Go home.'"

Sure enough, she went in and the x-rays all came back clear as did the other tests. They told her that her arteries were as clear as a 30-year-old. "Why are you here? Go home. There's nothing wrong with you." When I heard the report, I cried before the Lord and rejoiced and asked for more. It was humbling, but taught me an important lesson. The Holy Spirit is alive and active and wants to move through you!

A few days later I was sharing in a board meeting about
