Teen girls are lovers of the great variety of cool things out there to enjoy. By that, I mean the best gifts would involve not one, but several items packaged together in a creative and cute package. It's not necessarily the cost that counts, but the relevance to their interests.
If your teen loves to explore make up, for instance, most pharmacies carry a variety of makeup items, or even a 'train case set' for under $10. If you buy individual items, add on some free samples of fragrances from a department store. Wrap in pretty paper surrounded by cotton balls.
To the fashionista, one or two of the latest appropriate fashion magazines (Glamour, In Style), or a how-to book by a fashion maven wrapped in a pretty scarf would light up her face!
Even better, a subscription to her favorite magazine (some can be found for 10. or so), and just wrap up the first issue, or a printout of the cover of the latest issue to let her know to expect it all year.
Many teens like to write notes to their friends and would love some great paper and colored gel pens to personalize their style. You can purchase pens in packages of 4 or 8 different colors and some colored or designed paper and put them all in a pretty bag.
Some like to play games, and many card and board games come in small and travel-sizes. Boggle, Sudoku, Cards, Rubiks, Scrabble and Crosswords are tried and true favorites. Again, a few different ones will be more fun than one expensive one. Wrap each one individually inside another box for added 'game'.
Music is also great, and here's one item where a gift card to iTunes is a way to give them variety without the actual shopping- how easy is that? If you have one, put the gift card inside an empty CD case.
Whatever your favorite teens' interests, any dollar, drug or discount store should be overflowing with cute little items to please her inner child and give her something to do for quite a while after the holiday is over!
Enjoy the smile you get, and all the fun in the hunt!
