What is yoga ?

Yoga, relaxation of the mind body and spirit

A perfect balance for everything that is you. Yoga brings peace and tranquility by allowing the low impact exercises to elongate the muscles. Combined with controlled breathing and a clearing of the mind, Yoga can be the perfect pathway to a fitter, less stressed and healthier you.

The word Yoga means union' which reflects the union of the mind and spirit with the movements of one's body. flexibility brings a greater range of motion and therefore an ease of movement. There is no high impact jumping, running or strenuous exercise involved in Yoga. The majority requires the support of your own body weight.

That isn't to say that Yoga is easy. As with all new exercise programmes it is recommended to check with a doctor first, and please discuss any pre-existing conditions or medications with your Yoga instructor. But Yoga is a gentle way to get fit and healthy.

The benefits of Yoga go further than the physical, many describe the practice as very neccesary for their mental wellbeing and emotional fulfillment. Combined with meditation methods, Yoga exercises your mind right along with your muscles. Long, lean muscle mass gives support to your bone structure and can alleviate much of the back pain caused by everyday stresses on our body.

Yoga brings an increased awareness of you as an important part of the function of the universe. It is an ancient art, and once mastered can bring you a longer, happier life.
