Reflections: Why I support the Writer's Guild of America (WGA) strike

The strike will continue into its seventh week and there has not been any type of agreement on either end of the table. I support the strike because I am a fellow writer. Although I'm not apart of the WGA, I do feel that it is my duty to support my fellow writers. Why? do you ask, simple, if there were no writers, there wouldn't be any television shows, movies, or any other form of media. The AMPTP fail to be rational and make a decision based on what the representatives from the WGA presented. Instead, they walked out negotiations and handed them an ultimatum stating that the WGA must pull some of its bargaining. Do they not understand that these people who brought characters to life on big and small screen have to feed their families. Obviously the AMPTP have nothing to worry about since they make ample amount of money doing nothing. This strike is keeping me making my way into some of Hollywood's top executives doors to present my ideas.

I do believe that their can be a common denominator on both ends. if the AMPTP can meet the Writers half way, i'm sure that the Writers can meet the AMPTP. This business is all about giving and taking. Otherwise, there will be a lot of people out of jobs in Hollywood. Even the SAG stands with the WGA. I don't understand what the big deal is about eight cents. I mean it's not like their losing any money. Give them what they want. With the Internet, radio and DVD sales everyone should gain a little extra. Everyone has a hand in someones pocket at all times. More money they make, the less that the little people take. I will continue my support for the writers. I just hope that the AMPTP comes to its senses before whomever is over them decides that they don't want to pay them.
