I think that decorations for any religious holiday should be permitted in public squares. I think that the decorations should always be tastefully done, and never over the top or tacky. I know that a great many people are not my religion, but I would never consider doing anything to stop another religion from display of their artifacts. I think that it is important to learn about other people and their differences. I think that children learn much from us as parents, but also from others who are not their family, they can share in and learn about compassion. It is incredible how little children can grow up and have a grasp on things of the world by embracing differences as well as their own religion. They should be told at some point, about the fact that there are people who do not want to believe in or practice a religion. Having to at least have education about others can make for a well -rounded child who will grow up and not contest the placing of a Menorah in a window, or the hanging of a cross, or even a manger in a public square. I hope that perhaps the noise making grown adults who are a constant whenever the holiday time comes and then virtually disappear when the Christmas Season is gone, would hear that it is okay to have differences in religion. It does not mean that ,a non-believing adult has turn into that religion, they do not need to participate in anything. If the complaining person does not want to even look at a display, please don't. I feel richer for having learned a little bit more about another person. I get a peaceful feeling having gained knowledge. And it seems that the majority of people enjoy having some decorations during the holidays.
