Easy and cheap Christmas gifts to make with your kids

Have you ever seen the look of pride on a child's face as they present a gift to you that they made themselves? Or even one that they picked out? When children of any age give something to someone that came from them, from their heart, hands or imagination, there is almost nothing on earth that can be more heartfelt than the look of satisfaction on their face as the receiver of the gift opens the present. Children do not recognize monetary values. To a little boy, the treasures in his pockets may as well be gold. Or to a little girl, their sequin dress up shoes and matching pokee-book may as well be covered with diamonds. The point here is, you do not have to spend a lot of money to make something that your child will be proud present, and that you will treasure for years on end. But the most important gift of all, is not the gift that your child is making to give to someone else, it is those moments that you spend with your children, watching their imaginations at work, and making memories. These are the days we will never get back, we need to cherish the moments. Here are some ideas.

Kids love to make things out of stuff they find. Some ideas for things that they could make out of stuff that they find around the house would be:

A Rock Paper Weight. This can be easily decorated in many different ways. I've seen it done with stamps-collecting stamps off of the mail that comes in and soaking them off and then using those stamps as a collage. This is especially fun at Christmastime with all of the pretty Christmas stamps coming in on cards. After the stamps are glued on to the rock with a child safe glue such as Elmer's then they can coat it with Modge Podge which is a product for decoupage. If they cannot find stamps, how about using old magazines, or even Christmas Cards or hand drawn pictures. Either way, this is a fun project that even young children can complete.

Orange Juice Can Pencil Holders- This one is easy and pretty self explanatory. Kids can use wallpaper or pictures of themselves, they can hand decorate or use stamps on brown craft paper to wrap the cans, then adorn them with ribbons, buttons, pretty much whatever their hearts desire and they will be able to give mom or dad, their favorite teacher, Aunt or Uncle a gift that they can use and treasure.

With a little help from Mom in the kitchen and some simple supplies, your child could easily present a teacher, babysitter, parent of a good friend, or family member with "Cookies in a Jar" or "Brownies
