The easiest and perhaps healthiest way to cook crab legs is to steam them. This will require a steamer rack, which can be easily purchased in the kitchen appliances department of most department stores or specialty shops. It is a metal rack that fits inside a large pot.
Now, on to the cooking of the crab legs, many seafood shops will sell the legs precooked so that all you have to do is re-heat them. This is a very convenient option should have a lot of other things that need to be done. Place about a cup of water in the bottom of the pan. Insert the steel steamer into the pot and fill with the crab legs. Steam for approximately five to ten minutes or until the crab is cooked through. Be extremely careful, the steam is very hot and can burn.
If you feel like being creative you can add various seasonings to the water such as paprika, lemon or lime. This will add a nice light flavor to the fish. Also be sure to have a nut cracker available for easy access to the meat. Serve with melted butter for dipping, which is optional especially if you are choosing to make this a healthy meal.
Other options for cooking crablegs is to fry them in a beer batter (or other type of batter). Some people do like to boil them but I do not reccomend it. This method of cooking has a tendency to cause the crab to loose it's flavor.
