America has lost track of its moral principles

The answer to the burning question, in my opinion, as to whether or not America has lost track of its moral principles is an absolute YES!

I'm 34 and I can remember growing up hearing about "the 60's being such and such" and the "70's being such and such". Twenty years from now I don't think it will be quite as easy to pinpoint when the fall of morality actually happened. People have changed, things that would never be acceptable 20 years ago are completely mainstream today. If as a teenager I had walked out of my house for school in lowrise jeans and a shirt that didn't even goto my bellybutton my parents would have thrown a fit, and they certainly would not be bringing me to the store actually purchasing them for me. I understand people want their children to fit in, be trendy and popular, but do they think this is appropriate attire for school? And what is more disturbing is when did the governing bodies overseeing our schools decide that this is okay?

I fully believe that dressing in provocative clothing does not give rapist an excuse (because they were "asking for it") but I don't think it helps either. And I don't just mean serial rapists, I mean date rape also. Date rape is running rampant in today's society, and a lot of it is being done by teenage boys with raging hormones. And lets face it, why do they even need to go that far when children of today are consenting to sex now almost like it is a right of passage. "I need to lose my virginity before college." Being a teenage mom also seems also to be a growing trend.

And when did it become okay to beat our parents? Decades ago no child would even think of raising a hand to their parents, but now not only do they do it, the parents are left between a rock and a hard place because they can not defend themselves without risking a visit from DCF. While parents may not want to be abused by their children, they also don't want their children taken away either. How frustrating it must be to have your child throw in your face, "I'll do what I want, and if you lay a hand on me I'll call DCF". And there are few agencies out there that will truly help a parent with an out of control child unless it is severe and constant behavior. Therapy is great but in a lot of cases that does not solve the problem.

The Internet has a huge hand in the downfall of today's morals in society. While I am not knocking anyone's personal right to view legal pornography, I do have an issue with the fact that the companies make it viewable
