No, most definitely. I would say yes if they didn't use the restrictor plates because they could go past 220 miles an hour and if one of them wrecked, the car itself could end up in the stands. I think this was around 1985 when Bobby Allison or Dale Earnhardt(I don't remember exactly) was going around 210 at Talladega and got turned around on the frontstretch and hit the fence, nearly going up in the stands. They red flagged the race to repair the fence, and by the next year, NASCAR mandated the restrictor plates.

If it weren't for the COT or the recent car, which didn't look very much like a real car, I think Daytona and 'Dega would probably be better races. This years' races at Daytona and 'Dega were borefests until the last 10 laps and then they started racing. I don't think the track itself is to blame, but the fact that the drivers don't put as much effort into racing as their predecessors did. Nobody wants to see follow the leader racing, but Daytona and 'Dega do produce exciting finishes. At the Daytona 500, Harvick edged Mark Martin for the win(even though a yellow should've been called), and except for the mysterious debris cautions with 5 laps to go, there were plenty of close racing at 'Dega between the RCR, HMS, and DEI cars usually.

Don't ban Daytona and Talladega for boring races, just make the drivers actually race instead of driving around for 3 hours until 10 laps to go, and make more emphasis on winning than being seeded into the stupid Chase.
