at random.
I can just go home, or watch the race without betting.
One thing is for certain. Regardless of what I do, neither the horse, nor any person from the racing federation will come chasing after me, urging me to take any particular course of action. It's totally up to me.
In the same way, suppose I perform astrological calculations and see that Saturn is entering my second house of money, and that Pluto, in my 11th house of friendships and affiliation, is going to be forming a 90-degree angle to Saturn for the next month. I have lots of options concerning how to handle the information.
Having studied astrology, I know that:
Saturn is a planet that represents setbacks and hard lessons
Pluto is a planet that represents violent change
Both planets have long-term effects on anything they touch
90-degree angles (squares) between planets usually represent an obstacle.
I can weigh this information and add to it everything else I know about my chart and what is expected to happen during that time period. There are eight other planets besides Saturn and Pluto, and they could be traveling through parts of my chart and forming angles to each other that offset some or all of the problem aspect between Saturn and Pluto. For example, Jupiter (the planet of abundance and good cheer) might be in either of the aforementioned houses, or in my 12th house of intuition.
Again, as at the racetrack, my options are plentiful. I can refuse to make any decisions regarding money, guard my friendships with extra care, scrutinize any groups I belong to or plan to join, or go on as usual, taking comfort in the fact that if anything bad does happen, I should not be surprised. I might also have retired and/or filed bankruptcy some years before, and have nothing to lose at the present time.
There are a myriad of factors that need to be considered. The more I know about astrology AND MYSELF, the more useful the study can be to me.
Astrology is an informational tool. It is not an oracle, and it has no agenda for us. As many religious believers will say about their deity, the planets will continue in their way, whether we "believe in them" or not.
