Poetry: Drugs

"The Power of Drugs..."

Our Minds Racing towards whatever Pre-Conceived Notions we may Have,

And our Opinions on the Subject are as "Automatic" as our Emotions,

One person's "Drug" May be another's Escape,
One person's "Recreation" may Very well be "Disgusting" or "Offensive" to another,
While Some,
Some Remain in the Stocks of Denial that they even Partake of such things,

Someone's "joint" may be just as "Harmless" as someone Else's beer,
Someone's "line" may be Just as "Dismissive" as someone Else's Pain Pill,

We are All, (Sadly) the Victims of the Drugs we Choose,
Whether it's Smoked, or Snorted,
Drank from a Bottle, or a gold-encrusted Goblet,
Or even those "Drugs" that Cannot be smelled, swallowed, or Tasted,

The Drug of Ego- the Drug of Power, Control, or Attention,
Each and Every One of us Here- in Every walk of Life Imaginable Has an Addiction,
So the Next time we Cringe, or Shirk, or "fly-off-the-handle" when we Hear the Word,
Perhaps we should keep in Mind that None of us are "Beyond" the Power of Drugs...
