"The Power of Drugs..."
We hear the word "Drugs;" and we All Rush to our Own Conclusions,
Our Minds Racing towards whatever Pre-Conceived Notions we may Have,
"Assuming" this or that- each of Us Complete with the Images we Counjure,
And our Opinions on the Subject are as "Automatic" as our Emotions,
One person's "Drug" May be another's Escape,
One person's "Recreation" may Very well be "Disgusting" or "Offensive" to another,
While Some,
Some Remain in the Stocks of Denial that they even Partake of such things,
Someone's "joint" may be just as "Harmless" as someone Else's beer,
Someone's "line" may be Just as "Dismissive" as someone Else's Pain Pill,
Because (like so Many things in Life,)
"Drugs" come in All Different Forms,
We are All, (Sadly) the Victims of the Drugs we Choose,
Whether it's Smoked, or Snorted,
Drank from a Bottle, or a gold-encrusted Goblet,
Or even those "Drugs" that Cannot be smelled, swallowed, or Tasted,
The Drug of Ego- the Drug of Power, Control, or Attention,
Each and Every One of us Here- in Every walk of Life Imaginable Has an Addiction,
So the Next time we Cringe, or Shirk, or "fly-off-the-handle" when we Hear the Word,
Perhaps we should keep in Mind that None of us are "Beyond" the Power of Drugs...

It's been too long since I've looked at the stars
and watched them spiral out of control
I used to gaze up from the
Sweet nectar,
Running thick as honey in my veins,
Sticky and sweet.
Itching desire,
Forcing myself to go and search,
He sits at his favorite table in the diner, against the left wall, in the middle.
He holds a cup of coffee in one hand and
Laid out like powdery lengths of pure sex
Alabaster javelins on smooth, mirrored fields
We summon The Beast, fangs at our
He once wore a suit, clean and pressed.
Worked hard to give his family the best.
His demeanor showed a fine character, a
Pride
