Increasing website traffic: An A-Z guide

Wow. Did I just hit upon what I hope to be a really cool idea. I am doing this in almost a stream of consciousness sort of manner so as not to get in my own way. Boy, this was a lot quicker and easier an hour or so ago when I first conceived of these nubs - in the shower.

See, I have this idea to write an article - a genuine article with what I hope will be a cohesive presentation with some or more real informational value. BUT, my primary motive is to load it up with words that get the most hits on various search engines.

I say that in the interest of full disclosure, and frankly leave it there to help with my word count as I do not know when this burst of (inspiration?) will peeter out. But here's hoping I can learn how to skillfully optimize SEO, lest some untapped marketing trick would leave my earning potential SOL!

I had some thoughts, again, in the shower, that this was sort of gonna somehow spin off into my necessarily explaining the difference between an impulsive effort to keep writing, and a display of mania that might be of concern.

The difference - and I think this is something that occurs within each of us at micro-levels and for micro-seconds in each of our own lives and interpersonal interactions - is the editting that we do. I think we ALL have a wider range of thoughts and ideas than we could possibly disclose either because time won't allow - and/or because notions and instincts of self-preservation and common sense likewise prevents us from doing a lot of that which would tend to make one look like an egomaniacal ass.

So, I continue here in this "stopping for naught" writing experiment and yet have momentarily forgotten my original intent of writing something that engine searches will be more likely to find, and more of the time. Like, if I were to shamelessly pop in a random reference to George W. Bush, will that yield hits, and views (and pennies?) which would otherwise tragically fly by?

And speaking of hits and pennies and not editting, are there circumstances where ending a sentence with the word "by" is acceptable? Ugh....I thought the cohesiveness would take care of itself, but this diatribe is quickly becoming unmanageable as an organized presentation of ideas - which I sort of promised in the beginning.

So that leads me to another dilemma. Do I edit this and in so doing delay the submission and perhaps subject it to the possibility of a more submissive and nervous mood overtaking me to the point that I scrap this idea altogether?

Would that then lead to the tragedy so thoroughly chewed upon by philosophers and teachers and parents and, er, amateur writers - the tragedy of the road not taken? Is it one of those matters where, in the oh so distant sunset of my life, I would have regretted NOT doing?

Darn it - once again, I have forsaken my original intent of loading this up with what I thought would be "high search" words. I had intended to write an article that was just ever so transparently and opportunistically peppered with such hot words as money, sex, children, Christmas, election, education, healthcare, oil, Iraq, soldier, Big Dig, Romney, Cliinton, Dod, Edwards, as well as war, peace, love, hate, fashion, Britney Spears, rap, television, football, and God.

Is that shameless? Is it ethical? Am I under some implied obligation to make a vein attempt at writing some clever conclusion so as to show the minimal respect to helium and or the craft of writing?

Discuss.
