Want to know what to give Mom for Christmas that says 'I Love You' without breaking the bank?

As a Mom of three lovely and often inquisitive kids regarding my own Christmas list, I can tell you I have always asked for the same things, at least at the top of my list.

1. A day of peace (between all members of the family) and quiet (from all members of the family, and all the various stereos/TV's/computers...). Since this is difficult to wrap and place under a tree, I have decided that this one is a dream gift!

2. A surprise house cleaning, or at least a car cleaning by the same lovely kids.

After these first two recurring items ( I will put them on my list every year until I receive them), there are other ideas which would make most Moms happy, and make kids feel like Mom will use them (which is how they determine whether Mom likes their gift or not). Depending on Moms' interests, here are some great personalizable gifts:

3. For a READER: find a used hardback or paperback novel from one of Mom's favorite authors, and make sure to write a note inside the front cover with the date (Christmas 2007) and how much you love Mom, with the appropriate number of X's and O's to make her smile.

4. For a WRITER: find a lovely covered Journal (besides bookstores, Michael's, and Target have inexpensive, nice ones), and a pretty colored gel pen. Again, what makes it so special is your first story, entry on the first page telling Mom why you think she's special and deserves this gift. Don't forget the X's and O's.

5. For the ARTIST: still at the bookstore, find a lovely covered sketchbook and some pencils to encourage her to draw her favorite things (maybe she'll even ask you to pose for her!)and we have a theme here, be sure to sign the inside first page, and maybe draw a picture of something she likes, or paste a picture of you, her favorite kid, next to the X's and O's.

6. For the GARDENER: a few packets of flower, herb or vegetable seeds inside a couple small clay pots you decorate with paint, color with markers or cover in ribbon will make her smile. Make sure to sign your name, and date the bottom of the flower pot!

7. For the GOURMET COOK: buy a plain colored apron at a craft store, and decorate with permanent marker or fabric paint. Write the names of your favorite foods, or even the recipes for a few favorite dishes- with your name and the year! You can even put a wooden spoon or spatula in the pocket.

Mom should fit in to at least one of those categories. But, if you still are at a loss, don't forget the tried-and-true home-made card. And wrap it in a certificate for a back rub (From those loveable kids), and she will definitely remember Christmas 2007 as one of the best!

Just be sure to show her how much you love her, because that's really what she wants, trust me.
