Board game reviews: Scene It?

by Bobby Coles

Created on: December 14, 2007

Scene it? is a sensational board game that can easily be played with or without the board. Many cinematic enthusiasts will play this game without the board, ensuring that they see the optimum amount of clips from movies or television. Interactive games have proven to be all the rage lately, seeing as the new generation has been brought up on sound bites and short clips aimed to catch their eye and attention.

Scene it? comes in many different versions, which offers forth something for the whole family or everybody on your holiday gift purchasing list. You do not need much to play the game, other than a television, DVD player, and a heightened sense of memory for trivial matters. The game offers forth different categories of movies, such as listing the names of characters a certain actor or actress has played. Guessing the name of said actor or actress the quickest will garner you an advantage. You needn't be a movie maven to be successful at this game, but you do need to have an intimate knowledge of movies. The ability to know, based on an image on the screen, what movie it is can be accomplished simply by knowing what actors were in which movies. To know that, for example, a certain actor played in a military movie could lead you to know the name of a movie that you have yet seen for yourself.

Scene it? allows the players a chance to relive some of their favorite moments from the movies, rekindling old feelings and memories. The experience of playing Scene it? can prove to be quite evocative in that regard. A suggestion before playing would be to divide teams up as evenly as possible, based on trivial knowledge, and then begin. Popping a few bags of popcorn will also enhance the viewing pleasure of this treasure of a game. Scene it? earns the highest ratings. And there are also versions other than movies, for those that prefer the small screen of television, or sports. Either way, sit back, press play, and enjoy.
