Poetry: Stress

The Perplexity Of Your Complexity

I see your ledge
Then I'm pushed off of it
I feel my pain
And there you are feeding off of it
I can't see through the clouds
But I know you're raining on me
And try as I might
I'll never be what you want me to be

You're always there
Behind the mental picture of my eyes

To my own disadvantage, I always obey
And still you criticize

There's too much tension
And you always trying to pressure my stress
You'll be my downfall because after all
You do know me best
So now the only person I have left is me
A unique individual
The person you refuse to see

You shake your head as if disappointed
And try to restrict all of my freedoms
I know I'll never win...
But one day these won't be my problems

The sun sets everyday
And yet you've never seen me cry
I want you to understand that I'm already dead
But you fear seeing me die
When was the last time you let me escape?
...I can't remember either
Because you're fake

My vision grows blurry
As your plans become clear
My pen stains the paper
As it soaks in another tear

Are you familiar with the word "apologize"?
And every time you tell me
You didn't "realize"
Maybe this hate is what makes me humble
Your stress is mine
I guess that's why I stumble

And it's gone
My thoughts get old and rust
Every plan of action
Shreds and turns to rotten dust

Who would ever know?
You're not me!
Don't judge! We're not the same!
Don't try to be!
All of my emotions
Thaw out in my veins
You tie them around my neck
To suffocate and add more pain

You throw punches
Mine are worthless and fizzle out
You have an impenetrable
Overpowering doubt

But one day I'm going to pick myself
Up off the floor
And you'll just watch
As I slam the door
